Gerhard Winkler (born September 25, 1898 in Löwenhagen , East Prussia , † in April 1975 in Bonn ) was a German architect .

Live and act

Winkler studied at the Technical University of Berlin in the early 1920s . Then he was appointed government master builder ( assessor in the public building administration). In 1927 Winkler and his college friend Otto von Estorff founded an architects' law firm in Potsdam , in which Otto's older brother Hans von Estorff also worked. They mainly dealt with the design and construction of country-style houses. The Estorff and Winkler office developed into the most commissioned and most successful architecture office in Potsdam in the 1930s and shaped the country house style in Potsdam and the surrounding area. In the urban area of ​​Potsdam alone there are 56 buildings that were realized by Estorff and Winkler and are listed buildings.
