Gerhard the elder of Gemmingen

Gerhard von Gemmingen, the elder (* 1360 ; † 1402 ) was an early member of the B tribe (Hornberg) of the barons of Gemmingen . He owned in Gemmingen , Stebbach , Ittlingen and other places.

Life

He was a son of Dieter d. J. († 1359) and Anna von Gosheim. The father had acquired property in Bürg and acquired further property through his marriage . Gerhard was in 1360 after the death of their father, each with half of Ittlingen and Stebbach invested . In 1361 he received another fiefdom to Sulzfeld. During the division of the estate with his brother Eberhard († 1419) he received the ownership share in Gemmingen, Stebbach and Ittlingen, while Bürg came to Eberhard. From a debt of Ulrich von Hohenlohe, the castle in Ingelfingen and accessories were assigned to him in 1384 .

His brother Eberhard remained single and transferred his property to Gerhard's sons as early as 1400.

He was married to Anna von Liebenstein , who was still alive in 1409. He bears his nickname the elder to distinguish it from the son of the same name.
