history
Gerhausen is first handed down in 1092. In 1092 a Count Hartmann von Gerhausen is mentioned, he was perhaps the builder of Hohengerhausen Castle . This came from his heirs, the Count Palatinate of Tübingen , by inheritance to the Counts of Helfenstein and later served their bailiffs named after the castle as their residence. Like Blaubeuren, the castle was sold to an Austrian fief in 1303 and to Württemberg in 1447 . In 1768 the castle was sold for demolition. Shares in the place were held by the margraves of Burgau in the 13th century, those of Grafenegg, von Ockenhausen and those of Nenningen as feudal people of the Lords of Gundelfingen in the 14th century . At the beginning of the 15th century, most of it came back to Helfenstein and in 1447 to Württemberg.
