Germán Tozdjián

Germán Tozdjián (born December 8, 1964 ) is a former Uruguayan weightlifter .

Active career

The 1.85 meter tall Tozdjián, for whom a competition weight of 90 kg is recorded, won three gold medals at the South American Games in 1986 . These were divided into the disciplines of snatching and pushing as well as the overall competition in the class up to 100 kg. He also represented his home country at the 1987 Pan American Games . There he competed in the class up to 100 kg and took 2nd place. To date, this silver medal win is the only one by a Uruguayan weightlifter at the Pan American Games. His participation in the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul was that of Julio Lezama at that timetrained weightlifter in Uruguay's first participant in the history of the Olympics in the sport. After lifting 140 kg, he had to stop participating in the competition due to an injury. In Peru , he won the gold medal in snatching and the overall competition at the South American Games in 1990 , and silver was added in pushing. Four years later at the 1994 South American Games in Valencia , he won gold in snatching, silver in a duel and bronze in jerking. He was also in the squad of the Uruguayan team at the Pan American Games in 1991 and 1995 . In the course of his career he was a total of 14 South American champions .

Coaching

Later, Tozdjián was at least in 2001 as coach Sergio Lafuentes and works as a coach today. In 2011, for example, Christian Namus was one of his protégés .
