German Alexandrowitsch Umnow

German Alexandrowitsch Umnow ( Russian Герман Александрович Умнов ; born December 10, 1937 in Ivanovo ; † May 26, 2016 ) was a Russian chess composer from Podolsk .

Umnow has published several hundred chess compositions, many of which have received awards at home and abroad. He was the master of the sport of the USSR in chess composition and a national judge. For many years he was the chairman of the Russian Chess Composition Commission. He published joint works with Vyacheslav Kopayev and Andrei Lobusov .
