German Jewgenjewitsch Karachevsky ( Russian Герман Евгеньевич Карачевский ; * July 17, 1968 ) is a former Soviet - Russian cross-country skier .

Career

Karachevsky had his first international success at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in 1987 in Asiago . There he won the gold medal with the relay and over 10 km. In the following year he won the 10 km and the gold medal with the relay at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in Saalfelden am Steinernen Meer . He ran his first of a total of eight individual World Cup races in March 1990 in Lahti , which he finished in 68th place in the double pursuit . With the relay he was tenth there. At the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville , he finished 62nd place over 10 km classic and 43rd place in the subsequent pursuit. In the 1992/93 season he reached the points three times in four World Cup appearances and thus reached 59th place in the overall World Cup. He completed his last World Cup race in January 1993 in Kawgolowo , which he finished classically in 17th place over 30 km and thus achieved his best individual placement in the World Cup.
