The German Scholars Organization eV (GSO), based in Berlin , was founded in 2003 as a non-profit organization by German scientists and company representatives. It is a non-profit, registered association.

The aim of the GSO is to advise scientists independently and on an equal footing on career issues, to network with peers and experts in all sectors and to promote them through programs together with foundation partners.

The GSO supports and accompanies scientists on their career path. With the help of funding programs and the "career knowledge" platform, the next generation of academics in Germany and potential academic returnees from abroad are to be prepared for their careers. The GSO thus enables career opportunities and strengthens Germany as a location for science.
