Gern I was a municipality in the district of Eggenfelden .
It consisted of the four places Gern , Altenburg , Gaisberg and Sankt Sebastian . In 1961 the community had 861 inhabitants and an area of 222.4 hectares . The community was formed from the closed patrimonial court in the tax district of Gern. Altenburg initially belonged to the tax community of Gern but to the political community of Peterskirchen bei Falkenberg . It was not until the end of the 19th century that Altenburg came to the political community of Gern I. Between January 1, 1946 and December 29, 1947, most of the temporarily dissolved community of Gern II belonged to the community of Gern I.
