Gernot Bauer (sports journalist)

Gernot Bauer (born July 15, 1976 in Landshut ) is a German sports journalist.

Career

After graduating from the High School of the Benedictine Ettal Bauer undertook 1996 first journalistic steps in the stations Premiere and RTL München Live and local radio stations in Bonn . This was followed by an internship at the DSF branch broadcaster . From 1999 to 2011 he worked for the pan-European sports channel Eurosport . There he initially headed the multimedia editorial team as editor-in-chief. In 2004 he moved to the broadcasting center in Paris to devote himself to the German program window.

Since then, Bauer has reported on major events such as the Olympic Games, the Tour de France, winter sports world championships and motorsport events (MotoGP, 24 Hours of Le Mans, Dakar Rally). In 2010 he presented the Eurosports World Cup program Soccer City Live from the studio in South Africa, in which Roger Milla and Giovane Élber , among others , were involved as experts .

Outside of Eurosports, he was a course announcer and moderator at the Alpine World Ski Championships in Val-d'Isère , where he moderated in three languages ​​(English, German, French).

Since September 2011 he has been chief reporter at Sky Sport News HD , which started on December 1, 2011. In April 2015, Bauer switched to Eurosport again. From now on he will act there as deputy editor-in-chief and motorsport boss. Since March 1, 2017 he has been Head of Sports for Discovery , the parent company of Eurosport, at the German headquarters in Munich.
