Georg Jenisch (* 1969 in Salzburg ) is an Austrian composer , painter, puppet artist, filmmaker and artistic director of the Berlin shadow theater figure circle . He lives in Berlin.

Life

Jenisch studied composition and piano at the Mozarteum Salzburg. Since 1985 the works "Medea-Kantate", Petersbrunnhof Salzburg; “ Macbeth ” text collage with music, Salzburg motorway bridge; “Macrocosm”, Philadelphia , USA ; “Dance of the Moon”, Jagdberg castle ruins ; “Notturno”, La Cotencie, St. Felix de Mareuil, France for the premiere.

With his operas "Edward II. - ein Königsspiel" ( Vienna Pocket Opera) and "Dargelos-Ritual" ( Städtebundtheater Hof and Landesbühnentagung Halberstadt) he also appeared as an opera composer and librettist and wrote stage and film music: "Les Paradis des Esquimaux “By Boguslaw Schaeffer , Teatre du Grutli , Geneva ; “A three station piece” by Christine Velan , WUK, Vienna; “Voyage” by Sylvia Bath , Scheselong Theater , Berlin.

In addition to his musical activities, Jenisch was artistic director of TAK (theater, exhibition and concert) in the former Alpenmilchzentrale, Vienna, from 1996 to 1998, and has headed the Berlin shadow theater figure circle since 2002. With his productions for the figure circle ( Die Zauberflöte ; music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart , Titanias Traum ; music by Benjamin Britten , From the Tibetan Book of the Dead ; music by Béla Bartók , De temporum fine comoedia ; music by Carl Orff or the Sleeping Beauty ballet ; Music by Tchaikovsky etc.) he made a guest appearance a. a. in the Potsdam Palace Night , at the Deutsches Theater Berlin , the Berlin Tränenpalast and the Munich Künstlerhaus .

In 2006 he filmed Michael Haydn's ballet pantomime “The Dream” with figures on behalf of Moving-Images and in 2007 created the puppet scenes for the movie “Towards the cool morning - Dmitri Shostakovich” with Armin Mueller-Stahl in the lead role. On the occasion of the 850th anniversary of the city of Munich , Jenisch staged Igor Stravinski's opera oratorio “Oedipus Rex” at the Munich Künstlerhaus with stick figures between two and three meters tall and was also responsible for the equipment. In spring 2009 he shot the character film “ Haydn's Night ” with Udo Samel as the narrator.

After numerous productions for puppet theater (on behalf of the Münchner Künstlerhaus-Stiftung , including Carl Orff's " Trionfo di Afrodite ", " Catulli Carmina ", " Carmina Burana ", Manuel de Falla " El amor brujo " or Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy's " A Midsummer Night's Dream ") ) or the Orff Foundation Carl Orff's “ Prometheus ”, Georg Jenisch has focused his work on painting and installations since 2016.

Numerous picture cycles and installations were created (including "Zeit -schicht 1 + 2" on behalf of the Künstlerhaus Foundation Munich ). His studio in Berlin-Kreuzberg is open to the public.
