Potsdam Palace Night
The Potsdam Palace Night is an event in the gardens of Sanssouci Palace in Potsdam that has been held annually since 1999. The number of visitors has been limited to 32,000 since 2002. The palaces and gardens are illuminated, around 450 artists perform throughout the park. The organizer has been Kultur im Park GmbH on behalf of the Prussian Palaces and Gardens Foundation Berlin-Brandenburg since 2017 .

To feel romance , to see, to hear, to open the senses as a whole is the aim of the Potsdam Palace Night 2016. To be redesigned and staged a. a. presented these topics:
Garden of Dreams - Classic and more: a sound installation that takes you away from reality and invites you to dream.
Limitless play and music-humorous, thoughtful and illuminating insights into the vastness and diversity of world culture . Crossing borders between music, literature and games. Further topics: the vital art of living , illustrious figures, poetic worlds and shows and fireworks on Mopke .
More than twelve buildings are illuminated between the orangery and the New Palace , the Friedenskirche , the picture gallery and the Charlottenhof Palace . This illumination takes place only once a year . Potsdam citizens put on historical clothing for this night and take part in the festival.
Eve concert
The concert before the Potsdam Palace Night is an open-air concert. Top musicians and the backdrop in front of the colonnade at the New Palais make it a concert with its own character. The number of visitors is 5000 each.

- 2011: Hungarian National Philharmonic under the direction of Zoltán Kocsis , as soloist: Vadim Repin
- 2012: in front of the orangery. The City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra played a piece by Jean Sibelius .
- 2013: at the New Palais. The Wiener Symphoniker played pieces by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Ludwig van Beethoven .
- 2014: Stage “auf Mopke ” in front of the colonnade at the New Palais. The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra will play under the direction of Michael Francis .
- 2015: Stage “auf Mopke ” in front of the colonnade at the New Palais. The Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra will play under the direction of Gustavo Gimeno, soloist: Harriet Krijgh
- 2016: Stage “auf Mopke ”. The Stavanger Symphony Orchestra will play under the direction of Christian Vásquez, soloist: Tine Thing Helseth .
Use of the entrance fees
The restoration of objects in the park is financed with the proceeds from the sale of the tickets. For 2012, these were the restoration of the Lindstedter Tor and the granite pavement of Selloweg. The Lindstedter Tor, one of the original three gates that was built for the Chicago World's Fair in 1893 , was rebuilt in August 2012. The Selloweg runs as a north-south axis from the orangery to the south. The previously asphalted path will be restored true to the original using yellow granite as part of the renovation.
2014 to 2016: Refurbishment of Neptune's grotto : Funding in roughly equal parts amounting to € 1 million from TV presenter Günther Jauch and the ArGe Potsdamer Schlössacht.
