Career

Messner began his career at SV Spittal / Drau . At the age of 20 he switched to the Austrian record champions SK Rapid Wien . There he did not get beyond the reserve role and after only half a season switched to SV Austria Salzburg , where he quickly became a regular player, but was often thrown back due to injuries. He made his league debut on September 21, 2002 in the game against FC Admira Wacker Mödling , where he came on when the score was 2-0 in the 85th minute. With the takeover of Red Bull by FC Red Bull Salzburg , there were no more plans for him and so he moved to FC Kärnten , where he played for two years. He has been under contract with the Carinthian club Wolfsberger AC since July 2007 and, after two relegation games against SC-ESV Parndorf in 1919, he was promoted to the first league with the club . After only two years in this league, he rose with the club in the highest Austrian football league, the Bundesliga .
