Gernot Tews

Gernot Tews (born July 28, 1952 in Linz ) is an Austrian specialist in gynecology, his specialty is reproductive medicine .

Life

Gernot Tews is the first of four children of lawyer Richard Tews and his wife Uta Tews. After dropping out of secondary school and dropping out of business school, he began a commercial apprenticeship. During this apprenticeship, he began to catch up on the Matura at the grammar school for working people in Linz . The medical degree was then completed in just under four and a half years, with a scholarship for gifted students being awarded.

After completing the regular medical training, the specialist training was first started in Graz at the university and completed at the General Hospital of the City of Linz . From 1988 onwards, a department for in-vitro fertilization was set up at the Landesfrauenklinik Linz , which rose to become the largest hospital department in Austria. In 1995 he became head of the Linz State Women's Clinic. In 2012 he retired from this position.

During his activity as a member of the board of the Linz State Women's Clinic from 1995, he was first able to become a lecturer in 2002, and then later in 2009 the Graz University Clinic awarded the title of university professor. At the end of 2013, Tews set up a department for artificial insemination in Wels, which will go into operation in Wels at the end of April 2014 (IVF and fertility institute Prof. Dr. Tews).

On the one hand, Tews has scientifically dealt with topics of artificial insemination, on the other hand there are publications by him that deal with the problems of ectopic pregnancy .
