Gero Graf von Brehna (* around 1020, † 1089) was a son of Margrave Dietrich I of Lausitz († 1034) and Mathildes, the daughter of Margrave Ekkehard I of Meißen , and the brother of Bishop Friedrich I of Münster , Dedo II and Thimo . He was married to Bertha († 1089), daughter of Sizzo II, Count of Schwarzburg .

Life

Count Gero initially fought together with his sons in the Saxon aristocratic revolt against Emperor Heinrich IV. In 1088, however, he transferred 158 Hufen land to the Emperor. These were in the vicinity of Helfta and Schafstädt , in the southern part of Hassegau , the Friesenfeld. In a certificate from Heinrich IV. For the episcopal church in Naumburg from the same year it is said that Gero wanted to win the emperor's favor with this act. Gero and his brothers Friedrich, Dedo, Thimo and Konrad jointly owned the Gerbstedt Monastery after 1064 , which was founded by Wettin itself.
