Gert Frederking

Gert Frederking (born May 9, 1938 ; died February 1, 2019 ) was a German publisher .

Life

After training in bookselling at the Academic Bookstore in Munich , Frederking became sales manager at Molden Verlag in the 1970s and, in 1977, head of Goldmann Verlag, which had just been taken over by Bertelsmann at the time . After leaving Goldmann, he founded the Frederking & Thaler publishing house with his wife Monika Thaler . From 1990 to 1999 he was program director of the Bertelsmann Club .

Frederking was involved in the working group for literary and non-fiction book publishers , the working group for book clubs and in the Bavarian State Association of the Börsenverein .

In 2019 he died at the age of 80 after a long illness.
