Gert M. Weber (born October 4, 1947 in Mölln ) is a German architect , designer, writer and artist. His best-known designs are the “S10” chair (designed in 1976), the “RaRo” shelf (1981) and the “B10” cupboard (1976).

Life

Weber studied general mechanical engineering in Munich from 1966 to 1968. 1969–1972 he studied architecture in Munich. He lives and works in Munich.

Works

Weber has specialized in residential and office concepts since 1972. His designs are characterized by clear lines, fine materials, perfect workmanship and sophisticated functionality. Gert Weber's credo is: “Solid things have to be durable - also optically”.

His best-known furniture designs are the “S10” chair (designed in 1976), the “RaRo” shelf (1981) and the “B10” cupboard (1976). Florian Hufnagl , the former head of the New Collection Munich, says about this and about his architecture in the monograph Gert Weber, Architect: “It's nice that something like this still exists today - because actually there is no such thing today. In the meantime, the solutions of furniture construction and architecture of the twenties and thirties of the 20th century, which have mutated into classics, serve as models for Gert Weber, and which, then as now, are inevitably reserved for wealthy and educated clients. It's like a conversation or a meal at Gert Weber's table: appropriate, appropriate and always individual. "
