Angela Crawley (born June 3, 1987 in Hamilton ) is a Scottish politician of the Scottish National Party (SNP).

Life

Crawley was born in Hamilton in 1987 . She attended John Ogilvie High School and then studied politics at Stirling University . After graduating with a bachelor's degree , she earned another bachelor's degree in law from the University of Glasgow .

Political career

For the Hamilton South district , Crawley was elected to the South Lanarkshire Regional Council for the SNP . She also assisted a Secretary of State in the Scottish Parliament . In the 2015 general election , the SNP ran Crawley as a candidate in her home constituency of Lanark and Hamilton East . In doing so, she inherited her party colleague Clare Adamson , who was unable to prevail against Labor candidate Jimmy Hood in the previous election . With the massive gains in votes by the SNP in the general election in 2015, Crawley was able to gain a majority of 48.8% and subsequently moved into the British House of Commons for the first time . She acts as group spokesperson for women, equality and children and is a member of the equality committee. Crawley defended her mandate in the early 2017 general election by just 266 votes .
