Gertrud Franke-Schievelbein

Gertrud Franke-Schievelbein , also Gertrud F.-Schievelbein or Gertrud Franke (born on February 26, 1851 in Berlin ; died on February 23, 1914 there ), was a German writer .

Life

She was the daughter of the sculptor Hermann Schievelbein , who gave her ideas for art and science at an early age and initially promoted her skills as a painter. After his death she attended art school and became a student of Jean Lulvès and Karl Gussow . She also took piano and singing lessons and studied at Theodor Kullak's institution with Karoline Caspari and Hans Bischoff .

In 1880 she married the librarian Johannes Franke and lived with him first in Göttingen , then from 1895 in Wiesbaden and after 1899 back in Berlin. From around 1890 she began to work as a writer.
