Gertrud Scheumann (born Gertrud Hannes on June 3, 1920 in Swinoujscie ; † November 2014 ) was a German opera translator. As the fifth daughter of Ferdinand Hannes and his wife Clara and the older sister of Hellmut Hannes , she studied biology and chemistry in Berlin , Rostock and Strasbourg and began her doctoral thesis. Due to the economic situation of her parents, who had been expelled from the East, she was forced to break off her studies and work as a technical-biological assistant at the University of Bonn . Her husband was the mineralogist Karl Hermann Scheumann .

After her husband's retirement , the couple settled in Bad Hersfeld , where Gertrud Scheumann became active in the festival choir founded by Siegfried Heinrich . After her retirement she devoted herself to the Hersfeld Festival Choir and the Frankfurt Concert Choir, which was also founded by Siegfried Heinrich at this time. For performances in the ruins of the monastery in Hersfeld, she translated Italian libretti into German that can be singed.

The following operas were performed in a translation by Gertrud Scheumann in the Bad Hersfeld monastery ruins and published as books:
