Gertrud Schwarz-Helberger

Gertrud Schwarz-Helberger (born July 4, 1894 in Frankfurt am Main , † January 15, 1991 in Klosterneuburg ) was a painter and graphic artist living in Austria and a member of the Zinkenbacher painter colony .

After training as a pianist in Frankfurt, she moved to Vienna after marrying the Viennese doctor Schwarz . There she mainly devoted herself to painting. She was also a graphic artist, working with monotypes and surreal glass pictures . On the VI. Art show in the Künstlerhaus , Vienna 1925, she showed the tempera pictures “The Village”, “Houses under Construction” and “Street”. In 1930 she was listed as a member of the “Wiener Frauenkunst”. Ferdinand Kitt , who taught at the Vienna Women's Academy from 1927 to 1947 , is considered to be her teacher .

Schwarz-Helberger exhibited three reverse glass pictures ("Holy Family", "The Three Wise Men" and "Expulsion from Paradise") at the anniversary exhibition of local artists in Klosterneuburg in 1948. In 1984, works by her were exhibited by the Altnöder Gallery at the exhibition "Österreichische Malerkolonie Zinkenbach (1930-1938)", as well as in the Museum Zinkenbacher Malerkolonie 2002 ("Steamboat trip on the Wolfgangsee with Zülow, Kitt and Poldi Huber, Ernst Huber seasick below deck") , 1935) and 2008 ("On the Wolfgangsee in a brisk ride! Zülow-Kitt and Polidi Huber", 1935). From July 5 to October 5, 2014, the Zinkenbacher Malerkolonie Museum dedicated the extensive solo exhibition "In freedom, only after feeling - the world of Gertrude Schwarz-Helberger".

The Albertina in Vienna keeps two of her pictures, other works are in the possession of the Ministry of Education. Her works are currently not represented in the art trade.
