Hymnal of the Evangelical Reformed Churches in German-speaking Switzerland
The hymnal of the Evangelical Reformed churches of German-speaking Switzerland (RG) is currently in the Reformed churches in Switzerland for German-speaking church services used Kirchengesangbuch .
It was introduced in 1998 and replaces the hymn book of the same name from 1952 (RKG). It was developed and published by the Association for the Publication of the Hymnbooks of the Evangelical Reformed Churches in German-speaking Switzerland (in short: Hymnal Association ), which was composed of experts in church music and representatives of the cantonal churches and ecumenical cooperation with the Roman Catholic and Christian Catholic Churches in Switzerland used. The Catholic hymn book of German-speaking Switzerland was created in parallel. Both hymnbooks were presented to the public on November 1, 1998 in an ecumenical television service.
In the overall structure of the hymn book, the term "worship" as a leitmotif leads through 868 chants and texts, which are divided into six chapters:
- Worship in the Bible: Psalms and Other Chants
- Church service in the congregation
- Divine service in the annual cycle
- Divine service in the day circle
- Divine service in the circle of life
- Worship in the world
The songs are mostly in four parts. In contrast to the earlier hymnal, numerous canons , multilingual and foreign-language chants and dialect songs have now been recorded.
Because it was actually written as a hymn, the chapter on Divine Service in the annual cycle on the subject of Thanksgiving, Repentance and Prayer Day under No. 519 contains the Swiss national anthem .
