Hermann choir

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Hermann Choir is a six-member a cappella male choir.

Instrumentation and repertoire

With the musicians Simon Gramberger (1st tenor), Simon Scharinger (1st tenor), Stephan Wohlmuth (2nd tenor), Joachim Rigler (1st bass), Robert Pockfuß (1st bass) and Bernhard Höchtel (2nd bass) - the founding members Lukas and Johannes Sachsperger are no longer there - they have been singing since 2010 in a mixture of mühlviertler / innviertel / Viennese witty, cynical and dialect about typical Austrian and other circumstances. The meeting point for the musicians' rehearsals is in Vienna's Hermanngasse. The musical director is Bernhard Höchtel.

They appear in theaters, inns, jazz clubs and at festivals. Vocal ensembles can also be heard in well-known concert halls such as the Wiener Musikverein or the Linz Brucknerhaus. The radio program Hoamatsound of the ORF regional broadcaster Radio Oberösterreich , which offers a platform for local music, dedicated a program to the Hermann choir . With their oeuvre, the vocalists show that pop does not necessarily have to be associated with high-level language and electronics, and they successfully use social media channels with trendy music videos. On the album Mei Goaddnzweag & I, the group set text by the Innviertel dialect poet Hans Kumpfmüller to music . The music genre is difficult to classify, it is neither folk music nor dialect pop, on online music portals it is under easy listening .

In the 2016 presidential election they supported Alexander Van der Bellen with a campaign song.

At the world premiere of Der Rüssel , the first full-length play by the Austrian playwright Wolfgang Bauer, in April 2018, the Herrmann choir accompanied the event with folk songs, hits and yodelling.
