Protected landscape component of the pond southwest of Gut Forst

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The protected landscape component of the pond southwest of Gut Forst with an area of 0.55  ha is located in the urban area of Marsberg, southwest of Heddinghausen or southwest of Gut Forst in the Hochsauerlandkreis . The area was designated in 2008 with the Marsberg landscape plan by the district council of the Hochsauerlandkreis as a protected landscape component (LB). The LB is surrounded by the Rotes Land nature reserve .

description

The landscape plan explains the LB: “The protected object covers the lower of three artificial ponds, which are connected one behind the other in the south-facing transition between forest and open land near the plan area and state border. It is formed close to nature and is fed by another inlet that drains the forest area in the north. Its value is determined by its floating leaf and reed zones as well as its “peripheral location” in every respect, which predestines it to a breeding habitat for amphibians and insects (especially dragonflies). However, it appears to be severely endangered by massive populations of giant hogweed in the two ponds above, which have already expanded into the adjacent forest and grassland areas. The flow of this chain of ponds feeds the Schwalgloch , which was designated as a natural monument Bachschwinde near Gut Forst . ”This natural monument is located about 500 to the east of the LB.

Protection purpose

The designation as LB took place:

  • To maintain, develop or restore the efficiency and functionality of the natural balance
  • For revitalizing, structuring or maintaining the townscape and landscape
  • To ward off harmful effects

Like the other LBs in the landscape plan area, the LB represents an outstanding habitat for the ecological performance of the natural balance. It also serves as an element that structures and animates the landscape. The designation serves to ward off real or potential harmful effects through the removal of plants, relief or water changes, etc.
