The Society for Carnivorous Plants in German-speaking Countries V. , abbreviated GFP , is a plant society registered in Düsseldorf , which aims to cultivate, research and protect the carnivorous plant group . It was founded in 1984 by around 20 plant lovers under the direction of Rolf-Diether Gotthardt in Mannheim and is recognized as a non-profit association.

Members

The GFP has more than 900 members (as of August 2018), mainly from German-speaking countries, including private individuals as well as institutes and botanical gardens from all over the world. These meet once a year for their annual general meeting.

Goals and projects

In addition to the association's internal publications (yearbook, circular), the GFP regularly publishes “Das Taublatt” with content on carnivorous plants, some of which are of a scientific nature, and acts as the host of national, European and international conferences and assemblies. The GFP also organizes exhibitions for its members. In 2001 she acquired a moorland that is maintained in cooperation with the Naturschutzbund Deutschland (NABU) to preserve native species. The GFP school and education team supports schools with their school gardens .
