Social Science Institute Hannover

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Social Science Institute Hannover is a non-profit association that was founded in 1991 in Hannover . Scientists from different disciplines ( philosophy , mathematics , social sciences , history , natural sciences , literature and linguistics ) now work together in it , whose interest in the current state of scientific consciousness and social science through the common orientation towards the philosophical tradition and Marxian theory is determined.

The GI regularly organizes seminars and lectures on topics in social science, philosophy and interdisciplinary subjects, and it also offers summer courses during the semester break. The seminar series are intended to complement the courses offered by the University of Hanover . They were usually designed in collaboration with lecturers from the Philosophical Seminar or the social science institute.

The public seminars, which usually take place in the university, sometimes also in the own seminar room, are led by students in higher semesters or former students on a voluntary basis. Not only are they open to students of philosophy and the social sciences, they also enable students from other disciplines to familiarize themselves with the philosophical foundations of their science.

In addition to the public offers, there are working groups that serve internal training and the implementation of research projects lasting several years.

Since November 2004, the GI has also had the task of organizing the publication of Peter Bulthaup's academic papers.

At the moment, the GI is largely financed by donations.
