Please note the note on the applicable legal version.

The law on the use of information and communication technology in public administration (IuKG) of December 24, 2001 was a law of the Free State of Bavaria .

The purpose of the law was to ensure that the public administration fulfills its tasks with the help of information and communication technology (IuK) safely, quickly, in a citizen-friendly, economical and economical manner and that it obtains planning information and decision-making aids (Art. 1 Para. 1 IuKG). Among other things, the law provided for a committee to be set up at the State Ministry of Finance to develop technical and organizational measures for data security and data protection . The law resulted, among other things, in the obligation to train and educate members of the public service in information and communication technology (Art. 7 Para. 1 No. 5 IuKG).

Expiry

The IuKG was originally supposed to expire on December 31, 2006. The state government's draft for the law to repeal the law on the use of information and communication technology in public administration , however, was available in order to repeal it prematurely.

The reasons were that in October 2003 the State Ministry of the Interior was assigned the basic issues for the use of ICT. This would have resulted in too much need for changes in the law. Furthermore, for example, the authority to issue ordinances for the adoption of regulations for the exchange of data with the municipalities has become superfluous.
