The law gazette of the German Democratic Republic was the public announcement gazette of the German Democratic Republic . No law was valid if it was not promulgated in the Law Gazette ( Art. 85 Constitution of the GDR of October 7, 1949 and Art. 65 Constitution of the GDR of April 6, 1968 ). In that case , retrospective application was quite possible within the framework of the rule of law .

The paper was published by the office of the Council of Ministers of the GDR and distributed by the state publisher of the German Democratic Republic . The law gazette was issued in Berlin .

Law Gazette, issued in Berlin on October 15, 1968

From 1955 the law gazette was published in two parts, from 1960 to 1971 a third part was also published.

With the German reunification on October 3, 1990, the law gazette of the German Democratic Republic became obsolete and most of the laws promulgated in it were repealed in accordance with the Unification Treaty.
