The Forked wasps Bee ( Nomada ruficornis , Syn. : Nomada bifida ) is a bee from the family of Apidae .

features

The bees have a body length of 9 to 11 millimeters (females) or 7 to 11 millimeters (males). The head and thorax of the females are drawn in black and red. The tergites are spotted black and partly yellow. The mandibles have an additional tooth at the end. The labrum is red and has a tooth. The third antenna segment is significantly shorter than the fourth. The heavily humped scutellum is red. The rails ( tibia ) of the hind legs are blunt at the end and have about five long, fine thorns. The head and thorax of the males are black and yellow. The red tergites are blackish at the base and have large yellow spots or bands. As in the female, the mandibles have an additional tooth at the end. The third antenna segment is significantly shorter than the fourth. The visibly humped label is black, with some individuals they have two small red dots. The rails of the hind legs are blunt at the end and have long, fine thorns, which are not easily recognizable due to the thick hair.

Occurrence and way of life

The species is distributed in southern, central and northern Europe. The animals fly from early March to mid-August. They parasitize in the nests of Andrena haemorrhoa .
