Gethmann (entrepreneurial family)
The Gethmann family was an entrepreneurial family in Blankenstein , Hattingen .
Jürgen-Henrich Gethmann (1698–1750) acquired the Gethmann parent company in Blankenstein in 1730 . He bequeathed it to his Johann Wilhelm Friedrich Gethmann (1734–1807), who ran the Gethmann and Consorten woolen cloth factory until 1788 .
His son Carl Friedrich Gethmann (1777-1865) was a tradesman in the Ruhr mining industry and produced about an Aak per year in a shipyard on the Ruhr , of which he owned nine himself and thus brought coal and salt to Ruhrort . In 1806 he laid out the Gethmann garden in Blankenstein. The family was also a patron of the Catholic Church of St. Johannes Baptist zu Blankenstein. His son was Wilhelm-Anton Gethmann (1804–1877).
