The Austrian transport and services union vida was formed on December 6, 2006 from the merger of the railway workers' union (GdE), the hotel, hospitality, personal service union (HGPD) and the trade, transport, traffic union (HTV). The transport and services union has around 134,000 members (as of the end of 2018). Rudolf Kaske was elected as the first vida chairman at the 1st Federal Conference on December 7, 2006 , who was confirmed in his position as chairman at the trade union day in November 2010. On December 11, 2012, Gottfried Winkler was elected executive chairman of the vida union. Rudolf Kaske resigned from the position on December 11, 2012 and was elected President of the Vienna Chamber of Labor and the Federal Chamber of Labor at the AK General Assembly in March 2013 . As part of the 3rd vida trade union day, Gottfried Winkler was elected chairman of the vida trade union on November 6, 2014. On December 5, 2016, Gottfried Winkler resigned from his position as vida chairman. Roman Hebenstreit was elected as the new chairman as part of an expanded federal board.

The vida head office is located in Vienna - since March 1, 2010 in the new trade union building (together with ÖGB and other trade unions) at Johann-Böhm-Platz 1 in the 2nd district.

In addition to a federal executive board - consisting of the presidium, chairmen and representatives from countries, departments and departments - there are eight major departments within the vida union:

aims

The vida union not only wants to support its members with questions and concerns related to their individual professions, but also wants to improve the quality of life in general. vida means “life” and “joie de vivre” in Spanish .
