Ghetto pillar (Eisenstadt)
The ghetto pillar in Unterberg-Eisenstadt , a cadastral municipality of Eisenstadt in the state of Burgenland in Austria , is located at the entrance to Unterbergstrasse next to the Wertheimerhaus . The pillar with chain is a listed building .
The year 1862 is carved on the pillar. The second pillar on the other side of the street, which was used to tension the chain, no longer exists.
The ghetto pillar, which was called colloquially after the former ghetto , delimited the Jewish residential area on the Sabbath (see Eruv ).
