Ghulam-D. Totakhyl

Ghulam-Destagir Totakhyl (born April 26, 1944 in Paktia , Afghanistan ), a German citizen since 1991, was Secretary General of the Islamic Council for the Federal Republic of Germany from 1997 to 2002 .

He received his training at the Kabul Military Academy, studied Oriental Studies, Political and Islamic Studies and Law in Münster. From 1966 to 1971 he completed training for the higher police force in Münster. After his return to Afghanistan he served in the office of the Afghan Prime Minister and in the highest Afghan constitutional court. From 1973 to 1979 he studied politics and law in Germany on a scholarship from the Friedrich Ebert Foundation . From 1980 to 1987 he was responsible for political and diplomatic relations with the Federal Republic in the office of the Afghan mujahideen , then for various Afghan aid organizations. He completed his training as a translator and interpreter for the languages ​​Persian (Dari) and Pashto. From 1997 to 2002 he was Secretary General of the Islamic Council for the Federal Republic of Germany .

From 2002 to 2004 he was chairman of the forum for independent Muslims , and since 2003 he has been general secretary of the Annemarie Schimmel forum for intercultural and interreligious understanding .
