Gian Paolo Salvini SJ (born March 3, 1936 in Milan ) is a Jesuit and publicist .

Life

Salvini is a graduate of the Leo XIII Institute. in Milan. On December 8, 1954, he joined the congregation of the Jesuits and was ordained a priest on May 28, 1967 . He studied philosophy at the Aloisianum in Gallarate . He completed a degree in economics at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan . He studied theology in Chieri and Innsbruck .

From 1969 he initially worked for the Jesuit magazine Aggiornamenti Sociali in Milan, which mainly reported on Latin America. He was a long-time correspondent based in the Brazilian northeast in Salvador da Bahia , later editor-in-chief of Aggiornamenti Sociali .

Salvini has been a member of the editorial board of La Civiltà Cattolica , based in Rome, since 1984 ; In 1985 he was appointed editor-in-chief and publisher by the Superior General of the Society of Jesus. In 2009 he retired.

He is an advisor to the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace .
