Gianni Buffardi

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Gianni Buffardi (* 1930 in Rome ; † August 22, 1979 ibid) was an Italian film producer and director .

Life

Buffardi was the stepson of director Carlo Ludovico Bragaglia . From 1960 to 1963 he produced a number of mostly successful films by Sergio Corbucci and Steno with actors such as Totò , with whose daughter Liliana Buffardi was married for some time and with whom he has two children, and Peppino De Filippo . From 1968 to 1970, after a five-year break, he still financed one project per year. In 1973 he took a seat in the director's chair for Number One , a crime drama about a nightclub in Rome, which he also wrote (and of course produced).

Buffardi was known as a playboy and party goer and a formative figure in Roman nightlife; he died of the effects of an infection that he contracted while bathing in the Tiber .
