Gibbs Quadski

The Gibbs Quadski is an amphibious vehicle that combines the properties of a quad and a jet ski . It was developed by the native New Zealander Alan Gibbs. The company Gibbs Technologies , which produces the vehicle has, located in the English county of Warwickshire near Coventry .

On land and on water, the Quadski with its 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine ( BMW , 103  kW  / 140 PS) reaches 72 km / h. The vehicle weighs 605 kg and its maximum torque is 118  Nm . The quad ski is propelled in the water by a water jet drive. As with the Gibbs Aquada or the Gibbs Humdinga, the wheels fold in at the push of a button, and the quad turns into a jet ski in five seconds. This mechanism is locked during operation in "land mode" and is only released when the vehicle is in "water mode". This guarantees that the wheels do not fold inwards while driving in the country. According to the manufacturer, the range on land is 600 km. In the water, the vehicle should travel for two hours.

The manufacturer has registered 300 patents for the vehicle in 15 years . The Quadski was built in small series in 2006 and has been available in a revised version as a series vehicle in the USA since 2012. Market launch in Europe is planned for 2014. [obsolete] In June 2014, a second model Quadski XL was presented, which offers space for two people.
