Gibeauxiella is a genus of butterflies from the family of cosmopterigidae (Cosmopterigidae).

features

The head is smoothly scaled , the neck tuft lies on the head. The antennae are 3/4 as long as the fore wings. The antennae is simply built. The labial palps are slender and elongated. The third segment is angled up. The second segment is 4/5 as long as the third. The forewings are lanceolate, have a pointed apex and spots with slightly protruding scales. The vein is fully developed. The wires R4 and R5 are stalked less than half their length. The hind wings are slightly narrower than the fore wings and have a very pointed apex . The fringed scales are one and a half times as long as the width of the hind wings. The wires M2 and M3 are fused, the wires Cu1 and Cu2 are short stalked. The 8th abdominal tergite is sclerotized , has short lateral bulges and an oval appendix (lobe) at the back.

In the males, the brachia are not the same length, but the left brachium is shorter than the right. The tegumen is quite short and wide. The blades are simple and have hardly any bristles. The valvellae are short and rounded, the right valvella is longer than the left. Another pair of slightly asymmetrical processes is located between the aedeagus and the valves. The aedeagus is short and curved, it tapers distally. Cornuti are not available.

The female genital fittings are unknown.

distribution

The representatives of the genus Gibeauxiella are native to Europe in France .

biology

The biology of the genus is unknown. The doll of the type species was in a tree fungus found.

Systematics

The genus Gibeauxiella was placed in the subfamily Antequerinae because of the wing veins and the genital armature of the males . However, the two species of the genus are only represented by one specimen each, both of which were caught on the same day and in the same place in France ( Forêt de Fontainebleau ). The origin of the genus is puzzling, as it can hardly be assumed that the two conspicuous species have so far gone unnoticed in a very well-studied area in Europe. It is possible that they were brought into the area by accident.

The two species of the genus have so far only been found in France.
