Gibeauxiella bellaqueifontis is a butterfly ( moth ) from the family of cosmopterigidae (Cosmopterigidae).

features

The moths have a wingspan of 9 millimeters. The head and forehead ( frons ) shine yellowish white, the vertex is ocher-colored white. The antennae are ringed brown and creamy white. The thorax has a brown sheen and an ocher-colored spot on the back. The tegulae are brown and ocher on the sides and back. The forewings are brown with a dark brown mixture. The center of the outermost wing base is marked with a small white spot. At 1/5 of the fore wing length a creamy white band runs obliquely outwards. It tapers and does not extend to the inner edge of the wing. Two creamy white costal spots are at half and 4/5 of the forewing length. The first is elongated and runs obliquely from the center of the wing inwards to the Costa loader . The second is smaller and rounded. The inner edge of the wing is provided with two creamy white spots. The first is irregular and is the escape of the first Costalflecks. The second spot is small and is opposite the second costal spot. The apex is marked with a very small ocher white spot. A small tuft of protruding scales is located near the base of the wing below the anal fold, two other, opposite tufts are on both sides of the anal fold between the bandage and the first costal spot. The outside of the first dorsal spot is fused with a small ocher-colored spot. In addition, the edges of the white drawing elements are mixed with some ocher-colored scales. At the apex the fringed scales are dark brown and paler towards the inner wing edge. They have a distinct dark brown hemline,

In the males, the right brachium is almost straight and only gradually tapers distally . The left brachium tapers and is pointed. The valves are pointed and have a convex dorsal edge and a wide bulge in front of the middle of the ventral edge. The Valvellae are clearly asymmetrical and each with four to five strong bristles. The right valvella is finger-shaped and has a rounded tip. The left valvella is slightly club-shaped and rounded, it is only half as long as the right. Large processes appear asymmetrically in the specimen. The left process is triangular, the right one is narrow and short. The aedeagus is short and curved, it tapers slightly distally.

The female genital fittings are unknown.

Similar species

The similar species Gibeauxiella reliqua lacks the second cream-white spot on the wing inner edge, the small spot on the wing tip, the ocher-colored drawing elements and the protruding tufts of scales on the forewings. The hind wings are a little darker.

distribution

Gibeauxiella bellaqueifontis has so far only been found in France ( Forêt de Fontainebleau ).

biology

The only specimen of the species was caught in early May when it hatched from a tree fungus ( Ganoderma applanatum ).
