Gibraltar Defense Police
The Gibraltar Defense Police ( GDP , English : Defense Police of Gibraltar) is a civilian police agency that is responsible for the security and order in facilities of the British Ministry of Defense in Gibraltar . Until December 17, 2009 it was called the Gibraltar Services Police ( GSP ). The GDP is the equivalent of the Ministry of Defense Police in Great Britain. Working conditions and salary correspond to this authority.
The GDP is headed by a Chief Superintendent, of the governor and commander in chief of Gibraltar is appointed and the commander of British forces in Gibraltar ( British Forces Gibraltar is subject). In addition to the Chief Superintendent, in 2004 it consisted of two chief inspectors, six inspectors, 15 sergeants, 103 constables and 16 civilian employees. The members of the GDP, like those of the Ministry of Defense Police, are entitled to carry weapons.
Since March 20, 1997, she has had a headquarters built for her at the naval base HMS Rooke, which she shares with the Joint Provost and Security Unit of the British Army .
