Gibsonville is a city in the US state of North Carolina , in the United States and is located in Alamance and Guilford Counties . According to the 2000 census , it had a population of 4,372 in an area of 6.1 km². The population density is 716 per km².
Demographics
Gibsonville's 4,372 residents of the 2000 census lived in 1,707 households; including 1,206 families. The population density was 718 per km². 1,822 residential units were recorded in the village. Among the population, 80.2% were White, 15.5% African American, 0.4% American Indian, 0.8% Asian, and 1.7% from other races; 1.4% said they belonged to several ethnic groups.
Of the 1,707 households, 37.3% had children under the age of 18; 54.8% were married couples living together. 23.6% of the households were single households. The average household size was 2.56 and the average family size was 3.05.
The population was divided into 28.0% under 18 years of age, 7.8% from 18 to 24 years of age, 31.7% from 25 to 44 years of age, 22.7% from 45 to 64 years of age and 9.9% from 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years.
