Giessen Art Trail

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Giessen Art Path is a sculpture path on the campus of the Justus Liebig University in Giessen . It is located between the areas Philosophikum I and Philosophikum II and leads from the new cafeteria (Otto-Behaghel-Straße) to House C at Philosophikum II (Karl-Glöckner-Straße). A total of 15 works of art by internationally active artists can be seen, 13 of which are set up outdoors. The other two are located inside the university library .

The art trail was started in 1982 and has been continuously expanded since then. Gottfried Boehm , at that time professor of art history at Giessen University, proposed the establishment of this project and the Hessian “special building fund for the artistic design and furnishing of buildings and facilities in the state” took over the financing.
