Otto Peter Knapp (born January 21, 1939 in Frankfurt am Main ; † August 23, 1978 in Limburg an der Lahn ) was a German sculptor .

life and work

Knapp was Steinhauer from 1959 to 1960 . From 1960 he studied sculpture with Otto Baum and Rudolf Hoflehner at the Stuttgart Art Academy . In 1963 he went on a study trip to Greece . He then worked in a studio in Frankfurt am Main and later in Berzhahn . In 1964 he took part in the sculpture symposium St. Margarethen by Karl Prantl in Sankt Margarethen in Burgenland in Austria . Knapp's worked building stone by hand with Steinmetz tools and created more than two hundred until his death in 1978 sculptures , mainly from marble .

In 2009, the M50 gallery in Frankfurt am Main held an exhibition Homage to Peter Knapp .
