Bruno K. (* 1957 in Hofheim am Taunus ) is a German sculptor, action artist, photographer, designer and builder.
Life
Bruno K. was born in 1957 as Bruno Edgar Kleber in Hofheim am Taunus. After graduating from school in 1975, he completed an internship as a lithographer and retoucheur between 1976 and 1977 . He then studied visual communication and set design at the Hochschule für Gestaltung in Offenbach am Main until 1980 and then sculpture and film at the State University of Fine Arts, Städelschule in Frankfurt am Main until 1984 . He was a master class student with Michael Croissant in 1984 .
During his studies, Bruno K. taught collage , nude drawing and photography at the Südhaus evening school in Frankfurt am Main from 1982 to 1985 . He then took up a teaching position for three-dimensional design at the Hochschule für Gestaltung in Offenbach am Main and was artistic assistant to Leo Kornbrust at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich from 1990 to 1991 , where he then had a teaching position for situation-related work until 1992. Between 1999 and 2001 he was the artistic director of various projects with young people with learning disabilities at the DRK - Vocational Training Center in Worms . Bruno K. is an action artist, sculptor, designer, photographer and interior designer. His main interest is the unrestricted total work of art. The artist creates fewer autonomous sculptures than much more works that adapt to specific situations. For this purpose, Bruno K. usually begins a work with a spatial analysis, which includes the architectural inventory as well as the history and future use of the space. Recycling plays another central role.
Movement on land, water and in the air could be seen as an overarching theme of his work. In the early 1980s, various vehicles were built, which he often used for activities in public spaces. Ships and planes were attached to the land vehicles. Since 2009, the focus has been on the topic of simulation, and in 2010 the first simultaneous simulator was created. The art project "Restlichtzone" is a deep-sea installation with the submarine simulator U-2013 Nemesis.
Bruno K. is also active as an interior designer and builder, for example in 1986 with the repair of his farmhouse and the construction of a new studio building in Kriftel. In 1992 he bought the Volxheimer Hof and restored the dilapidated homestead. In 1994 he took over the interior design of a wine presentation room called a "ballroom" and two years later "Haus im Haus" followed, the conception and execution of a new residential building within an existing 450 m² Barn. Various architectural extensions to private houses and the artistic direction of the conversion and renovation of a listed farm in Volxheim were also part of his projects, as was the design of an office floor for Coface Finanz GmbH in Mainz in 2004, which he titled "Domino Grande".

Volxheimer Hof
The Volxheimer Hof is a building complex from 1772 and today offers around 3000 m² of space for the artist's studio and workshop, as well as a hotel designed by him. The Bruno K Museum is also located in the farm. In 1994, the first 7 guest rooms were created in the former village school. In 1997 planning and construction of the observation tower took place. In 2001, further extensions were added to the original cubature of the courtyard to enlarge the exhibition area.
Arte furniture
In 2003 Bruno K. founded a workshop for unique furniture. All pieces of furniture are unique and custom-made. What they all have in common is that they are solid in construction. The idea of recycling also plays a major role in the designs. Old furniture is used as well as parts of machines and earlier art installations.
