Gigliato
The gigliato ( ital. Giglio = lily ) was an Italian coin , d. H. Groschen of the Middle Ages , which owes its name to the Gilgen cross shown . Charles II first introduced him as Carlino in 1303.
Especially in the Kingdom of Naples , he was as the French Turnosen adequate silver coin during the 14th century marked . The common feature was the surrounding wreath of usually twelve lilies.
Also in the Levant , in the Burgundian Kingdom of Arelat and in Hungary , it was particularly popular with a weight of 4 g (3.7 g fine) and enjoyed numerous reprints .
