Hans Ammerich

Hans Ammerich (born August 29, 1949 in Zweibrücken ) is a German historian and archivist .

Life

Hans Ammerich studied history, Catholic theology and German in Saarbrücken and Munich. In 1975 he passed his state examination for teaching at grammar school. In 1979 he was at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich to Dr. phil. (Doctor of Philosophy ) PhD. From 1975 to 1977 he was initially a research assistant at the Institute for Catholic Theology in Saarbrücken, and from 1977 to 1979 he worked as a research assistant at the Chair for Medieval and New Church History at the Catholic Faculty of the University of Munich. In 1982 he passed his second state examination for archival science at the Marburg Archive School. From 1979 to 2014 Ammerich was director of the diocese archives in Speyer .

In addition, since 1984 he has been a lecturer in diocesan history at the Episcopal Seminary St. German in Speyer and has been teaching at the Institute for Catholic Theology at the University of Koblenz-Landau in Landau since 1992. In 2004 he was appointed honorary professor at the University of Koblenz-Landau .

He is a member of the Catholic student association KDStV Vasgovia Landau in the CV .

Act

Ammerich has published numerous articles on the church history of the Palatinate and the history of the Palatinate region. With his comprehensive work on the Bavarian Concordat of 1817 he became known nationwide. In 1998 he was awarded the plaque of the Society for Middle Rhine Church History.

Ammerich is involved as a board member in the working group for historical regional studies on the Upper Rhine . For many years he represented Section 3 (Church Archives) on the board of the Association of German Archivists (VdA), at times he was its deputy chairman. He is a member of the Scientific Commission of the Historical Society of the Palatinate .
