Gilbert (born November 17, 1959 in Innsbruck ; real name: Gilbert Soukopf ) is an Austrian pop singer .

biography

Gilbert was born in Innsbruck and grew up in Umhausen in the Tyrolean Ötztal . He made his first stage appearance at the age of nine and had his own band four years later. In the 1980s he was part of the hit duo Gilbert & George , which performed across Europe.

After a hiatus, he returned to the music business in the 1990s as a songwriter for other performers, before recording his first solo album Gnadenlos in 1997 . This is where his best-known song Du, my little friend, comes from . From the mid-2000s she took part in international music events such as the Grand Prix of Folk Music and the International Peace Song Contest 2004 in Ireland.

After he had already been successful in hit and airplay charts , Gilbert entered the official Austrian charts for the first time in 2007 with the album Liebe, Laster, passion .
