Gilbert Mitterrand

Gilbert Mitterrand (born February 4, 1949 in Boulogne-Billancourt , France ) is a French politician and producer. He is the second son of the former President François Mitterrand .

Mitterrand is the son of the former French President and has also worked at his side as his advisor for a long time. He spent most of his childhood in Paris , where his father also worked. Otherwise he spent a lot of time with his brother Jean-Christophe and his mother Danielle in Marseille , where a large part of his family still lives today.

He completed his school career first in Marseille and then moved to the École nationale supérieure des télécommunications (ENST) in Paris. ENST is a renowned elite school in the field of consulting and development research, where he successfully completed his studies. From June 1981 to April 1993, then from June 1997 to June 2002, he was elected member of the PS in the French Parliament , first for the 9th and then for the 10th constituency of the Gironde department , where he supported his father François Mitterrand. He worked on the cultural and social committee, later on the finance committee. He was also a representative in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe from 1997 to 2002 . Today he works mainly as a film producer and author. Together with his cousin Frédéric Mitterrand , he published several works, some of which were autobiographical. From 1989 to November 2011 Mitterrand was mayor of the city of Libourne .

Gilbert Mitterrand is married to the French-English producer Anna-Sarah Chevallier and has four children.
