Gilbert Ouédraogo

Gilbert Noël Ouédraogo (born December 25, 1968 in Ouagadougou , Upper Volta , today Burkina Faso ) is a politician from the West African state of Burkina Faso.

Career

Gilbert Ouédraogo is the son of former Prime Minister Gérard Kango Ouédraogo . After studying law in Ouagadougou and Lyon ( France ), he worked as a lawyer in the capital.

Political offices

Ouédraogo held numerous different political offices in his career. From 2000 to 2002 Ouédraogo was Minister for Social Affairs, during the last legislative period from 2002 to 2007 he also held the office of Vice-President of the National Assembly , the Burkinabe Parliament , for a long time .

He is also party president of the Alliance pour la Démocratie et la Fédération - Rassemblement Démocratique Africain (ADF-RDA). Since the party holds most of the parliamentary seats alongside the ruling CDP party , Ouédraogo is officially regarded as the head of the parliamentary opposition, although his party is a coalition partner of the dominant CDP and he himself is back in the Burkina Faso government as transport minister.
