Gilda (Italian singer)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Gilda (born May 31, 1950 in Masserano , Biella province , as Rosangela Scalabrino ) is an Italian musician.

Career

Already at the age of 14 Gilda made a name for herself as a singer in the vicinity of her home town. While she was studying medicine in Turin, she tried her luck in the Milanese music scene and in 1969 recorded her first own single Nu ferru de calzetta . After another single, she submitted the song Ragazza del Sud for the Sanremo Festival in 1974 , but was not approved. At the 1975 Sanremo Festival , she tried the same song again and not only made it through the preselection, but unexpectedly won it. In 1976 Gilda's debut album Bolle di sapone was released .

After the album was released, the musician soon withdrew from the public. In Turin she took over the management of an inn. It was only in later years that she returned to music and appeared publicly on various occasions, for example at the Orchidee del Principato festival in her home town of Masserano in 2017 .
