location

It was located on the north side of the Quedlinburger Schloßberg in the Westendorf district in a prominent corner location. North which is also listed bordered House Gildschaft 1 , east of the house Gildschaft 3 .

Architecture and history

The two-storey half - timbered house was built according to an inscription in the saddle wood of the column of the middle girder in 1581 and served as a guild house . The name of the street Gildschaft goes back to this building. It was Westendorf's assembly and town hall, which was an independent political municipality until 1810.

The framework was created in the form of a row of stands and was 13 containers wide. As ornaments were found subjects rosettes and on the floor threshold score cut rosettes and cylinder beam heads . In addition, there was also a wrong beam head. In 1976 or 1977 the house was demolished. It is regarded as a lost important building in Quedlinburg. In its place, a massive new building was erected in 1978, which, however, largely corresponds to the appearance of the demolished house. There is criticism of the new building in the literature because the decorative forms in the ceiling area were not executed correctly.
