Gille Críst, 3rd Earl of Angus
Gille Críst, 3rd Earl of Angus (English Gilchrist , † around 1204 ), was a Scottish nobleman .
Life
His father was Gillebride, 1st Earl of Angus , his mother's name is unknown. After his older brother Adam was left without a legitimate heir, he took over the common legacy of their father and the title of Earl of Angus after his death .
Little is known about his life: with the title of Earl of Angus he testified in 1198 to an agreement between the Bishop of St. Andrews and the Abbot of Aberbrothoc on the ownership rights to various churches; A deed of donation attested by him between the monasteries of Arbroath and Cupar comes from the same year .
Gille Críst was once married, but the name of his wife has not been recorded. From this marriage came his son and heir Donnchadh , later 4th Earl of Angus. Magnus of Angus , later Jarl of Orkney and Caithness, can be found both as the son of Gille Chríst and as the son of Gillebride (and would therefore be a brother).
